DWF launches charity foundation to help support local communities
DWF has set up a charitable foundation to provide funds, resources and support to local charities and projects.
The launch coincides with #Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving, and kick-starts fundraising activity that will support the first grant applications in the New Year.
As a registered charity, the DWF Foundation has the sole aim of providing funds, resources and support to help local communities achieve their full potential, and will focus on education, employability, health & wellbeing and homelessness.
The DWF Foundation will support charities and projects that tackle specific community issues; help voluntary and community groups to become more effective and efficient; encourage involvement of those too often excluded; and enable young people to develop skills for the benefit of the community.
DWF has a strong track record supporting its local communities through a range of initiatives, including the award-winning 5 STAR Futures programme, and the DWF Foundation will continue to build on this activity to offer key funding, resources and support to a wider pool of local charities.
Jim Davies, DWF Foundation’s chair of trustees, said: “For many years now the CSR teams in DWF’s regional offices have been passionately supporting our local communities and, with the launch of the foundation, we’re looking to carry on their wonderful work and do even more. We’re greatly encouraged by the support we’ve received so far and we’re very excited about the opportunities going forward.”
