DWF partner goes the extra mile in the Howard’s Way Walk to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity
Iain McLean, a real estate partner at DWF’s Edinburgh office, is to go the extra mile for the Howard’s Way Walk, a unique fundraising activity launched in 2007 to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund in memory of Howard Kerr, by hiking an extra 7 miles to also raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Honoring a previous commitment to do the Howard’s Way Walk, a three day 93 mile hike from 9th – 11th September 2016 across both Dartmoor and Exmoor, Mr McLean will embark on a 100 mile walk from Devon coast to coast with all funds raised to be split 50:50 between Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund and The Brain Tumour Charity, a charity very close to his heart.
Earlier this year, he tragically lost his twenty year old son Duncan, who died suddenly from a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumour, so has decided to walk even further in order to raise more money to help fund pioneering research to increase survival, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support for everyone affected to improve quality of life.
Mr McLean hopes to raise more than £10,000 before the end of his walk for these two tremendous charities, with fundraising efforts already getting off to a great start through Duncan’s friends organising a fantastic 72 hole golf marathon in Mr McLean’s home village of Gullane.
