Edinburgh students win Stair Society Legal History Moot

Edinburgh Law School’s mooting team won the Stair Society Legal History Moot, which was held at the beginning of March.

The event was a special one held to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Stair Society, Scotland’s leading legal history society.

The Edinburgh team consisted of Tanuri Kulendran, senior counsel, Hannah Corke, junior counsel and Mohammed Alawami, research counsel.

The competition, which took place in Court 1 in Parliament House, saw Edinburgh face Aberdeen, where they had to moot according to the law of 1851, and the legal issues raised concerning wages for domestic service and an action of seduction.

The moot was judged by Lord Ericht and Professor Hector MacQueen and clerked by Orla Crane, president of the Edinburgh Mooting Society.

The competition was organised by Professor Gillian Black, Dr Alice Krzanich and Dr Jonathan Ainslie.
