Employment law masterclass for Lochaber pupils
Students at Kinlochleven High School discovered more about diversity, equal opportunities and discrimination in the workplace at a special workshop held last Thursday.
Employment law experts from Ledingham Chalmers visited the school for a session with fourth, fifth and sixth-year pupils, organised by DYW West Highland, to discuss how people, by law, ought to be treated in the workplace. They also offered advice on how to spot and deal with unfair and discriminatory conduct.
Head of employment law and partner, Kirk Tudhope, said: “With only a short while to go before they start their careers, it’s crucial the students have a clear understanding of how people should be treated in the workplace; the challenging judgement calls they may face; and how to approach things if something’s not right.
“I was thoroughly impressed by their attitude, their knowledge and their appreciation that, when it comes down to it, the only thing that should matter is a person’s ability, attitude and potential.”
