England: Barrister who asked clients for drugs jailed for 14 months

An English barrister who asked two of his clients to supply him with drugs has been jailed for 14 months.

Disgraced lawyer Henry Hendron, 42, represented prominent figures including Conservative MP Nadine Dorries and the Earl of Cardigan during a decade-long legal career, according to ITV.

He pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court to two counts of intentionally encouraging or assisting the supply of Class A drugs, one count of intentionally encouraging or assisting the supply of Class C drugs and one count of possession of a Class A drug.

The court heard that messages found on his phone showed that he contacted two of his clients about buying Class A methamphetamine and then-Class C GBL.

One of the men was arrested on drugs offences a few weeks later and Mr Hendron represented him throughout his arrest and prosecution, in which he was ultimately jailed.

Judge Jonathan Mann KC said Mr Hendron had abused his responsibility for his client and his responsibility to the court.
