Euro body welcomes Faculty as member
The Faculty of Advocates’ presence on the international stage has been bolstered by membership of a body devoted to improving the quality of European law.
The European Law Institute (ELI) was founded in 2011, and works to “initiate, conduct and facilitate research, to make recommendations, and to provide practical guidance in the field of European legal development.”
As an Institutional Observer, the Faculty will be able to contribute to the work of the ELI, for example by suggesting new projects to be carried out by it.
Recently, the Faculty has also become a member of the International Chamber of Commerce and the International Advocacy Training Council.
Gordon Jackson QC, Dean of Faculty, said: “It’s always important to look beyond our own shores, to see what we might contribute to others and what we might learn from them. Membership of the ELI will, I hope, help in both regards.”
