Event: Campaign for Complainer Anonymity – GCU
Friday 27th January 1pm – 4pm
The Lantern, Annie Lennox Building, Glasgow Caledonian University
The Campaign for Complainer Anonymity (CCA) is a law reform campaign led by legal academics and law students at Glasgow Caledonian University. It is campaigning to change the law on complainer anonymity in sexual offence cases in Scotland.
This event, generously funded by the Clark Foundation for Legal Education, brings together interested parties to discuss reform of the law in this area.
With the Scottish government having committed to reform, the event will seek to explore some of the finer details around complainer anonymity reform, from the perspective of a variety of different stakeholders. Lessons from other jurisdictions have shown that reform must be carefully considered and it is hoped that this event contributes to the discussion.
Speakers include:
- Dr Andrew Tickell, Senior Lecturer in Law, Glasgow Caledonian University
- Kate Thompson, Justice Policy Worker, Rape Crisis Scotland
- Cameron-Wong McDermott, Policy Officer, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland
- Catriona Stewart, Journalist
If you have an interest in this area of law do come along and join in the discussion.
