Eversheds Sutherland associate first female solicitor to gain debt specialist accreditation
Zibya Bashir, a senior associate at Eversheds Sutherland has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a “specialist in debt and asset recovery law”. Ms Bashir is understood to be the first female solicitor in Scotland to achieve this accreditation. Presently there is only one other solicitor in Scotland who has it.
Ms Bashir, who recently began working at Eversheds Sutherland, was previously with TLT LLP for 13 years. She is a senior associate within the financial services, disputes and investigations team in the Edinburgh Office and is dual quaIified as a solicitor in Scotland (2005) and in England and Wales (2009).
She said: “I have experience in secured and unsecured recoveries including asset finance recoveries and disputes under the CCA 1974.
“Recently I have gained a lot of invaluable experience in disputes relating to contracts for secured lending including allegations of fraud and undue influence. I also have experience in regulatory investigations and professional negligence.”
Ms Bashir is also a civil law tutor on the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.
