Faculty Clerk at special RBG screening

Dr Hood, second from right, and other panellists

The Clerk of the Faculty of Advocates, Dr Kirsty Hood QC, has helped honour one of the world’s major legal figures, the US Supreme Court Associate Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

A special screening of RBG, a documentary about Justice Ginsburg, at the Glasgow Film Theatre was followed by a Q&A, hosted by Femspectives – Glasgow Feminist Film Festival.

Dr Hood was a guest panellist, with fellow lawyer Frances Ross (Clyde & Co), writer Layla-Roxanne Hill, and Lauren Clarke and Kathi Kamleitner of Femspectives.

She said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to participate in this event. The film not only describes Justice Ginsburg’s influence as a US Supreme Court judge, but also pays tribute to her earlier work as a litigator before that Court seeking to secure equal rights for all US citizens.

“Justice Ginsburg is an inspiration – a very talented and clever jurist, who had herself to overcome prejudice and discrimination as a woman starting out on her legal career at the time when she did.”
