Faculty Dean elected as Bencher of Middle Temple

The Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, James Wolffe QC, has been elected as a Bencher of Middle Temple in London, joining two former Deans.

Mr Wolffe’s election follows those of Roy Martin QC, and Lord Keen of Elie QC, who were elected Masters of the Bench, or Benchers, of Middle Temple in 2011.

More than 550 names appear on the list of Benchers. Most are Queen’s Counsel or senior members of the judiciary; but the list also includes distinguished individuals from other walks of life. Benchers of Middle Temple include Lord Hodge,Judge Ian Forrester QC, and Dame Elish Angiolini QC.

Mr Wolffe said: “The Faculty values its good relations with the other bars of the United Kingdom. It has a longstanding link with Middle Temple through participation in the annual Four Jurisdictions Conference.

“I am honoured to have been elected as a Bencher of Middle Temple.”
