Faculty helps students prepare for national mooting competition
A group of students has been prepared for a national mooting competition, courtesy of some expert tuition from the Faculty of Advocates.
The hopefuls intend entering the moot organised by the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association(UKELA) which asked the Faculty to provide some training in advocacy skills.
A workshop was arranged by the training and education department, and David Parratt, director of training and education, put together a programme covering just about everything from stance and posture to structuring submissions.
He was assisted by Sir Crispin Agnew QC, a patron of UKELA.
Sir Crispin said: “UKELA very much appreciates the support the Faculty has given to the entrants to our annual mooting competition. David Parratt’s training session was innovative, engaging and very instructive. The students enthusiastically entered into the spirit of the training.”
In the competition, teams of two submit written skeleton arguments and, if selected, will take part in semi-finals in London, where the final will also be held.
