FAI court process begins for the death of hotel director
The Crown Office has lodged a first notice to begin the court process for a fatal accident inquiry (FAI) into the death of Gregor Deakin.
Mr Deakin, 48, died on 6 October 2021 after an accident where a JCB being driven by him fell off the pier at Ardeonaig Hotel, Killin and landed in Loch Tay.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1 March 2024 at Stirling Sheriff Court.
Procurator fiscal Andy Shanks said: “The death of Gregor Deakin occurred while in the course of his employment and as such a fatal accident inquiry is mandatory.
“The lodging of the first notice enables FAI proceedings to commence under the direction of the sheriff.
“Mr Deakin’s family will continue to be kept informed of significant developments as court proceedings progress.”
