FAI: No recommendations following death of prisoner Peter Tobin after fall

No recommendations have been made at the conclusion of the fatal accident inquiry into the death of 76-year-old Peter Tobin.
An inmate within HMP Edinburgh, he was admitted to hospital after a fall in his cell on 8 September. He died on 8 October 2022 at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The cause of his death was bronchopneumonia with a fractured neck of femur, generalised vascular disease and prostate cancer.
Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss stated: “At the time of his death Peter Tobin was a 76-year-old man who had been living with a number of serious health conditions.
“He suffered a fall in prison. Prison staff dealt with the situation appropriately and he was given appropriate medical care in hospital.”
