Family of Paul McBride QC donate over £80,000 to hospital charity

The family of Paul McBride QC, who died in 2012, have donated over £80,000 to the children’s ward of a hospital.

Mr McBride died suddenly in Pakistan while visiting the country on business.

Following his death a tribute fund was established and a ball was organised by his partner Gary Murphy as well as friends Louise Arrol and Tony Graham.

The money raised will now be given to the Yorkhill Children’s Charity to improve the play and family support services at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children – which is moving from Yorkhill to New South Glasgow University Hospital campus.

Mr McBride’s parents, Mary and George, said:“The new children’s hospital offers the chance of hope and recovery to so many sick children and their families, and we are delighted we have been able to make a positive, and lasting contribution to this incredible Scottish establishment.

“Paul cared deeply for people, and we know that this will be a true and fitting legacy to all that our son stood for.”

The Paul McBride QC Tribute Fund will pay for pull-down beds in each room, allowing parents to sleep next to their child.

In addition, it will pay for an enhanced play room.
