Fords Daly Legal celebrates living wage commitment
The Living Wage Foundation has announced that Fords Daly Legal (FDL), has today been accredited as a “Living Wage” employer.
The Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at FDL, regardless of whether they are permanent employees or third-party contractors; receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.45 - compared to the national minimum wage of £6.95 and the new minimum wage premium for over 25s of £7.20 per hour introduced this April.
The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the “minimum income standard” for the UK. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet.
FDL director, Lauren Daly, said: “We are delighted to be officially accredited as Scottish Living Wage Employers. We value each and every one of our staff members and the hard work that they put into FDL on a daily basis. We believe that our staff members deserve to be paid a wage which not only reflects the effort they put into their work but also to ensure that they are remunerated in a way which will allow them to live comfortably and have a good sense of morale in the workplace.
“We are one of only a handful of legal firms across Scotland who are accredited as Scottish Living Wage Employers. If a small family business like FDL can step up to pay the Living Wage, then we hope that this encourages other local businesses to follow suit.”
