Foreign lawyers invited to join Ukraine Bar Association
Foreign lawyers have been invited to join the Ukraine Bar Association (UBA) to show support for the war-torn country’s legal profession.
Lawyers anywhere in the world can become ‘international participants’ for €200 per year to “join our cause and help us continue our activities”.
International participants will receive regular updates in English on UBA activities and documents; access to information on Ukrainian lawyers; one free ticket to any of the UBA’s international conferences; and an opportunity to consult with UBA committees on issues of Ukrainian law or practice.
Viktoriia Krasnova, chief operating officer of the UBA, told the English Law Gazette: “By joining UBA and paying an annual fee, international participants will enable us to continue our mission, which is to resist the aggression against Ukraine on the legal front.”
The UBA is struggling as “membership fees, conferences and partner contributions from law firms which used to form the UBA’s budget now all ceased to exist”, she added.
An international membership will allow the UBA to transform itself “into something bigger … an international, multi-country community of lawyers with a stronger voice, speaking multiple languages”, she said.
