Frances McMenamin QC to be Faculty representative on sexual offences review group
A senior criminal practitioner will be a Faculty representative on a new panel looking at the way sexual offence cases are dealt with in the courts.
Frances McMenamin QC has been confirmed as a member of the review group, chaired by Lady Dorrian, the Lord Justice Clerk.
The group will consider how the court process and the experiences of complainers and witnesses can be improved, without compromising the rights of an accused.
It will include representatives of the judiciary, the police, justice agencies, Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Rape Crisis Scotland, Scottish Women’s Aid and Victim Support Scotland.
The group is to begin its work next month and is expected to report in early 2020.
