Gillespie Macandrew to open Glasgow office
Edinburgh-headquartered law firm Gillespie Macandrew is planning to open a Glasgow office in March.
The firm opened its first office outside Edinburgh in Perth in 2012.
Managing partner, Ian Turnbull (pictured), said: “We have experienced a steadily increasing demand for our services from a range of clients based in the west of Scotland and have identified further opportunities to extend our level of business in this region.
“In particular, our house building team is very active in the West, with over one-third of the work they are carrying out in plot sales alone being generated there.
“To begin with we will be focusing on services related to house building, strategic land and planning.
“Additionally, Harry Smith, who heads our house building team, his colleague Alan Minty and our planning specialist partner Murray Shaw all live in the west and it is a logical extension of our client support to open an office there.
“Currently, we are in final discussions about our precise office location but wanted to let our clients and contacts know that this move is imminent.”
Harry Smith added: “Currently, we are working in the west with major companies such as Bett and Bellway, while Murray is advising several notable companies operating there, including Stewart Milne.
“Our flow of work is such in the house building/property sector that a Glasgow base makes good sense.”
