Gillespie Macandrew reports record year in 2015/16
Gillespie Macandrew LLP has reported unaudited fees and other income for the year to 29 February 2016 are up over five percent at £10.5 million compared with the previous year. It is the first time that the firm has broken through the £10m fee level, having seen a positive upward trend over the past four years.
In recording a record year for the firm, Gillespie Macandrew, which has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, has continued to focus on organic growth.
With 19 partners and 112 members of staff, the firm has an ongoing recruitment plan in place, alongside an extensive management training programme designed to achieve strategic growth and retain its key teams. As part of its increasing presence in Glasgow, two new associates have recently appointed to the Glasgow team boosting its strengths in land and property.
Gillespie Macandrew is recognised as a leading law firm in the fields of land and rural affairs and private client and has deep roots in the rural business community, representing around a million acres of rural, development and industrial land across Scotland.
Chairman Murray Shaw said: “We are quietly, though I should say justifiably, positive about our performance in the past year. The five percent increase takes us past another small milestone.
“In the past year we have focused on growing the business organically rather than by merger or acquisition and this is bearing fruit.
“The new partners and staff we have brought in and on during the past year have increased our capacity and we look forward to greater growth in 2016/17. We are grateful to our clients and our staff for their continued support.”
Chief executive Chris West added: “While we won’t have the final profit position until after the audit we have achieved this increase in turnover with fewer resources than expected and margins and profits will be up accordingly.
“Our cash position remains very strong and we enter 2016/17 with no borrowing giving us an excellent platform for the further people and systems investments we will make to even better meet our clients’ needs. As part of this we expect to grow our presence in Glasgow and Perth in particular.”
In conjunction with its record breaking year, Gilliespie Macandrew has also announced the following internal promotions, effective from 1 March 2016:
