Glasgow Caledonian University launches law prize
Glasgow Caledonian University has secured funding from the Clark Foundation for Legal Education for a new undergraduate prize.
The best first-year student studying law as part of Glasgow Caledonian University’s LLB programme will receive a £500 award after next summer’s examination diet.
The new award is the first time excellence will be recognised and rewarded during the first year of legal studies at GCU.
The Clark Foundation Prize will be on offer for each of the next five academic years.
Dr Andrew Tickell, lecturer in law and deputy programme leader for the LLB at GCU, said: “This is an extremely generous award by the Clark Foundation for Legal Education which will not only recognise academic excellence in the study of law at GCU but will hopefully make a real difference to the students benefitting from it.”
Last year, GCU Law announced plans to launch an annual law journal and establish an annual Law & The Common Good Lecture for students and members of the Scottish legal profession, after receiving funding from the foundation.
