Growth at Shoosmiths Glasgow continues with new appointments
Shoosmiths has once again set down its ambitions for Glasgow with the appointment of three more senior lawyers.
Corporate lawyer Tom Maxwell is the latest addition, having moved from DWF, along with Jennifer Wright, also from DWF, and Lewis Ritchie, from MacRoberts. It means that Shoosmiths has grown to a team of nine since it established a presence in the city a little over 12 months ago.
Mr Maxwell, who joins Shoosmiths as a legal director, is well-known for his work particularly in mergers and acquisitions and private equity as well as corporate re-organisations, joint ventures and corporate governance, advising across a wide range of industry sectors. He joins the Scotland corporate team led by Alison Gilson and will work closely with her in growing their corporate practice further in the West.
Ms Wright, meanwhile, joins recent new employment partner Michael McLaughlin, to build a Glasgow based employment business servicing the needs of Scottish based and UK wide clients. They will also come together with the existing Edinburgh based team to form a very strong presence in the Scottish market.
Mr Ritchie will play a crucial role in helping the firm build its plot sales team, a key priority for Shoosmiths across Scotland as they continue to grow their housebuilder practice.
Shoosmiths Glasgow partner Barry McKeown said: “In a relatively short space of time, we’ve established an impressive list of lawyers, all recognised for the experience they bring to their respective areas.”
Janette Speed, Shoosmiths head of Scotland, added: “We have a clear vision of where we want to go in Glasgow and the West, building on the excellent reputation the firm has across Scotland and wider UK.
“These latest appointments mark the latest phase of our strategy, as we continue our growth in Glasgow and Barry and I am delighted to welcome Tom, Jenn and Lewis to the team. It’s an exciting time to be joining Shoosmiths, that’s for sure.”
