gunnercooke welcomes Denise Laverty as family partner
International law firm gunnercooke has appointed Denise Laverty as a partner in its Scottish family law team.
Ms Laverty is an accredited family law specialist and is dual-qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and in England and Wales. She has over 33 years’ experience and a strong reputation in Scotland.
She has particular experience in advising on high net value cases, Armed Forces divorce and acting in cross UK border jurisdictional issues.
Ms Laverty is the author and presenter of the Law Society of Scotland’s advance training module in jurisdictional issues in family law, and also regularly delivers presentations to other solicitors and professional organisations on family law, as well as appearing in the media as a commentator.
Her appointment formed part of a recruitment drive across gunnercooke’s 12 global offices, which welcomed 11 partners, six operating partners, eight associates, 12 paralegals and 14 other support staff.
Matthew Dashper-Hughes, international director at gunnercooke, said: “It’s great to start 2024 on a high with over 50 new colleagues joining us late last year across a wide range of disciplines and sectors.
“gunnercooke is continuing to grow at a rapid speed with lawyers who believe in the same purpose: to deliver positive impact for our clients, improve the lives of our people and to leave a better world than we found.”
