Half of UK law firms see best results since 2008 crisis

Nearly half of the UK’s biggest law firms last year saw their best revenue results since the financial crisis of 2008.

Only 11 firms in the top 100 failed to grow last year, new research shows, with 44 firms recording revenue increase of 10 per cent or more.

Bond Turner was the best performer of the top 100, recording a 40 per cent rise in revenue due to its involvement in the “dieselgate” litigation.

The firm that saw the greatest leap in growth was Kennedys Law, which recorded revenue in 2023-24 of 22.5 per cent.

DLA Piper is still at the top of the revenue league table featured in The Lawyer and was reported earlier this month to have become the first firm in London to break the £3 billion annual earnings barrier.

Clifford Chance is in second place with a revenue figure of £2.3bn. It overtook Allen & Overy, now A&O Shearman, on £2.2 billion.
