The firm won a place on EMEC’s new legal services framework following a tender process and the appointment will last for three years. 

David Bone, head of energy & natural resources at Harper Macleod, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to provide legal support to EMEC, which is a fantastic example of how Scotland continues to play a leading role at the cutting edge of renewable energy development.

“Over the years we have advised a number of companies pushing marine energy technology forward and it is great to play a part in EMEC continuing to drive that work so that marine energy can be at the centre of a clean energy system.”

Since it was established in 2003, EMEC has been at the forefront of developing the marine renewable energy sector with more wave and tidal energy devices having been tested at EMEC than any other site.

EMEC is also driving the development of a green hydrogen economy in Orkney and uses its expertise and facilities to support other sectors progress towards net zero.
