Holyrood sub-committee has no confidence in Scottish Police Authority leadership
A second Holyrood body has raised serious concerns about the standards of governance at the Scottish Police Authority (SPA), saying it has no confidence in Andrew Flanagan, the authority’s chair.
In a new report, the Justice Sub-Committee on Policing said it shares concerns raised by the Public Audit and Post-legislative Scrutiny Committee and thanked it for its scrutiny of the governance of the SPA.
Commenting on its publication, sub-committee convener, Mary Fee MSP, said: “Mr Flanagan’s testimony to the sub-committee was frankly inadequate and we do not have confidence in his leadership.
“Though he was apologetic, we are not confident he accepts he was wrong.
“This issue remains unresolved. We will continue working with the Scottish Police Authority, and other Justice stakeholders, until we are confident the governance of the SPA is significantly improved.”
