Honorary membership nominations invited for Law Society’s 75th anniversary year
The Law Society of Scotland is inviting nominations for honorary membership for outstanding service for the public good by a Scottish solicitor.
To mark its 75th anniversary, the Law Society has opened nominations for the award which is normally presented once every two years. The most recent recipients of this accolade were Glasgow solicitor Michael Samuel and former Journal editor Peter Nicholson in 2023.
Susan Murray, president of the Law Society of Scotland, said: “Honorary membership is our most prestigious accolade and recognises those who have gone above and beyond during their career as a Scottish solicitor.
“As part of our 75th anniversary celebrations this year, we are creating an additional opportunity for members to nominate a solicitor for their outstanding service to the public good by using their legal knowledge and skills to bring positive change to the legal landscape, improving people’s lives and benefitting our wider society.
“We very much look forward to receiving nominations.”
The closing date for nominations is at 5pm on Wednesday, 2 October. The nomination form is available to download on the Law Society of Scotland website.
