Horizon cases being considered by Scottish government drops to 97
The number of cases being considered by the Scottish government in relation to the Horizon scandal has been reduced to 97, Holyrood’s Criminal Justice Committee has been told.
Writing to the committee, Justice Secretary Angela Constance, said that 44 of the 141 cases were deemed as not within the remit of the Post Office (Horizon System) Offences (Scotland) Act 2024.
“This reduces the total number of cases currently being considered by Scottish Government to 97, however this number may change,” she stated.
She added that 31 convictions had been quashed so far.
Ms Constance wrote: “This is an additional 29 convictions compared to the number advised in September. Most of these are priority cases, which means they are self-referrals or those that had an application before the SCCRC for review.”
