Hundreds visit Dundee Sheriff Court for tour and mock trial
Hundreds of people visited Dundee Sheriff Court over the weekend as part of Dundee Doors Open Days.
Guided tours of the courtrooms and the cells were offered on Saturday afternoon, with participants also invited to take part in a mock trial.
Court staff and partner agencies were on hand to answer questions and bust myths about Scotland’s justice system.
The University of Dundee helped organise the city-wide Doors Open Days events, which offered the public an opportunity to explore otherwise off-limits buildings in Dundee on Saturday and Sunday.
Dr Jon Urch, co-organiser of Dundee Doors Open Days, told Scottish Legal News: “I visited Dundee Sheriff Court this weekend with my two daughters and we simply loved it.
“We got to see a mock custody case in the beautiful Court One all supported by the Court and law students from the University of Dundee.
“We had the chance to ask lots of questions of the legal experts before a tour of the interview rooms and cells.
“It was a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes in this grand building and learn more about what happens here day-to-day.
“Congratulations to all the staff and volunteers for creating such an welcoming event for everyone.”
