Impact of Brexit on environmental law in Scotland likely to raise challenges, warns expert
One of the many areas of law in Scotland which will be significantly affected by “Brexit” is environmental law. That topic will be one of the questions which will be examined by a “Brexit Update” seminar, which is being held in Edinburgh on the morning of Monday, 26 March.
Dr Annalisa Savaresi, lecturer in environmental law at Stirling University, will speak on “The impact of Brexit on environmental law in Scotland”.
Dr Savaresi said: “With much of UK and Scottish environmental law presently originating in Brussels, experts have long warned of the specific challenges associated with Brexit in this sector. These challenges will affect the very mechanics of environmental law-making, implementation and enforcement.”
Other areas where the impact of Brexit on law and practice in Scotland will be examined in detail include consumer law (James Mure QC), family law (Rachel Kelsey, director SKO Family Law Specialists), and trade law (Peter Sellar, advocate). Further details of the programme, and how to book, can be found here.
Early bird discounts are available for bookings made before 13 March. The seminar is organised by Public Policy Events, in association with Scottish Legal News and the Scottish Centre on European Relations.
