In-person hearings to resume at Inner House on November 15

In-person hearings will resume at the Inner House of the Court of Session on November 15, lawyers have been told.

Though not yet officially announced, Jonathan Mitchell QC noted the development on Twitter.

Dean of Faculty, Roddy Dunlop QC, told SLN: “Faculty is delighted to hear that in-person hearings are returning in the Inner House with effect from 15 November. The precise details are unclear, but it is understood that this has now been announced in open court.

“The profession and SCTS have been working closely with a view to the resumption of in-person hearings, and the Inner House will be the first step on the road to recovery.

“SCTS are to be commended for the steps they have taken to allow this to happen.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Court and Tribunals Service told SLN: “We reviewed our safety measures and court guidance in August to reflect that Scotland was moving to beyond level 0 restrictions.

“At that time we committed to reviewing those arrangements again during September and October, considering the latest public health advice and its implications for the measures we have in place. We will be announcing the results of that review shortly.”
