In pictures… Scaling the kitchen
MBM Commercial senior associate Alexander Lamley shared details of an ongoing expedition.
Two weeks in to expedition: isolation and morale remains high (as do supplies contrary to some rumours, although shaving supplies have been ditched to save weight).
I arrived at Worktop Ledge late last week following a tricky traverse and mantle. Once all the gear was hauled up, it was an ideal place to bed down for the night. An early rise the next morning was rewarded with a dawn view of the kitchen and dining area; quite something from this vantage point.
I couldn’t sit too long admiring my laminate-floored kingdom if I was to reach and tackle the south face before the best of the light faded. And so, it was a light breakfast of baked beans (heated up on a handy gas camping stove complete with oven which I can only guess was left by a previous expedition) and cup of coffee and shaking off of the stiffness that had set in from bivvying overnight, before pushing on to Kitchen Corner, a famous and not trouble free buttress standing between me and the next pitch. Keep safe folks and stay tuned for more next week!
