Inverness solicitor pens second Highland Noir crime novel

Madness Lies, the long-awaited follow-up to In the Shadow of the Hill, follows DS Joe Galbraith on a new murder investigation and moves between Inverness, North Uist and London, reaching a terrifying denouement at the notorious Black Rock Gorge.

Ms Forbes said: “Writing the sequel to In the Shadow of the Hill was always going to be a challenge, especially given the wonderful reception my first book received. However, in writing this novel I have worked to develop the characters and bring a more personal intimacy to them, so the reader is drawn more fully into all aspects of their lives.”
