John Logue becomes crown agent and COPFS chief executive
John Logue has been confirmed as crown agent and chief executive of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).
He has been serving as interim crown agent since September 2022. This appointment confirms he will remain in post.
Mr Logue brings significant prosecutorial experience to the role. He first joined COPFS in 1994 as a trainee solicitor before holding a variety of roles, starting his career as a procurator fiscal depute in Stranraer and Kirkcudbright and then serving as a principal depute, head of policy and procurator fiscal. He was appointed deputy crown agent in 2016.
Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC said: “I congratulate John on his permanent appointment as crown agent and chief executive. John has shown his skill in this role over the past year, and his significant experience of COPFS, and of prosecution in Scotland, will continue to be a strength for the organisation.”
Mr Logue said: “I’m delighted to be appointed as crown agent and chief executive of COPFS on a permanent basis. It has been a privilege to serve in this interim role over the past year. I am excited to work with committed and skilled colleagues in COPFS to improve our service.”
