Join the debate on criminal justice reform

Members of the public will have the chance to make their voices heard on the transformation of Scotland’s summary justice system at a meeting in Edinburgh on Tuesday 25 April.

The meeting, from 4:30 to 6pm at the Apex Hotel in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, is the first of a number of roadshows being held across the country by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service to promote discussion of the radical proposals for updating the way the summary justice system works in Scotland.

The proposals, published in February in the SCTS Proposition Paper: A New Model for Summary Criminal Court Procedure, set out an ambitious new model for summary criminal court procedure, transformed through modern technology and with a new emphasis on case management.

The roadshows will offer anyone interested in criminal justice an opportunity to make a contribution to these important proposals for the modernisation of Scotland’s legal system.
