Jon Kiddie joins Terra Firma Chambers
Jon Kiddie has joined Terra Firma Chambers, having being admitted to the bar on Friday.
Prior to calling, Mr Kiddie spent almost two decades in private practice, latterly as a solicitor advocate. He was head of civil litigation at Legal Services Agency in Glasgow, and principal solicitor at Renfrewshire Law Centre, where he served for 11 years.
His law centre work consisted principally of housing law, landlord/tenant rights, disrepair reparation, mortgage enforcement, employment tribunals and judicial review.
He also advised local charities and small businesses, including family businesses, on various aspects of the law, including regulatory compliance, employer duties and organisational restructuring. He has appeared regularly in the sheriff courts across Scotland as well as preparing and presenting sheriff appeals. He has conducted cases in front of various tribunals, including the Employment Tribunal, the First and Upper Tier Tribunals, and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeal Panel.
He served as secretary to the Scottish Association of Law Centres and was instrumental in setting up GRADE, a joint project with Citizens Advice Bureau, which helped individuals facing litigation in circumstances of financial hardship.
He said: “I’m delighted to be joining one of the leading stables at the Scottish bar. It is a challenging time to be embarking on a career at the Bar but I am looking forward to making a positive contribution towards the stable’s ongoing commitment to excellence in its core practice areas.”
Practice manager Emma Potter said: “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Jon on behalf of everyone at Terra Firma Chambers. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise gained in private practice which will serve him well as he begins what I am sure will be a long and successful career at the bar.”
