Julius Komorowski speaks in Strasbourg on human rights
Terra Firma’s Julius Komorowski was one of the key speakers at the Academy of European Law’s “Seminar on Recent Case Law of The European Court of Human Rights in Criminal Matters” held in Strasbourg this week.
The seminar provided legal practitioners with an update on the case law developed by the European Court of Human Rights – mainly in 2014 and 2015 – with relevance for criminal law and criminal procedure.
Part one of the seminar covered investigation, prosecution and detention.
Mr Komorowski addressed delegates on i) the obligation to conduct an effective investigation and the right to life (Art. 2 ECHR); and ii) the obligations on police and penitentiary authorities regarding persons in custody (article 3).
