Ken Dalling elected as head of UK delegation to CCBE
Ken Dalling, former president of the Law Society of Scotland, has been elected to serve as the new head of the UK delegation to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE).
Mr Dalling won the position with a clear majority of UK delegates voting for him to take up the reins from his predecessor Hugh Mercer KC.
Mr Dalling said: “It is an honour to take up the role of the new Head of the UK Delegation to the CCBE and to represent the diverse needs of UK lawyers in Europe.
“Hugh has set an excellent example over the last few years and I am delighted to have the opportunity to take his good work forward.
“The CCBE has an important role, representing more than one million lawyers across Europe - It is a privilege to be part of that and I will dedicate my term in office to ensuring that the voices of the profession in Scotland and across the UK are heard.”
Founded in 1960, the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) is an international non-profit association which includes the bars and law societies of 46 countries from the European Union, the European Economic Area, and wider Europe.
Mr Dalling was president of the Law Society of Scotland in 2021–2022. He joined the Law Society Council in December 2010 and continues to represent solicitors in the Alloa, Falkirk, Linlithgow and Stirling constituency. He is also convener of the society’s Client Protection Sub-Committee.
