Kennedys boosts Scottish presence with arrival of liability partner
Kennedys has boosted its presence in Scotland with the hire of partner Peter Demick from Brodies.
Previously heading up Brodies’ casualty insurance team, handling motor, employers’, public and product liability and personal injury litigation, Mr Demick also has experience in handling claims that include catastrophic injury, fatalities and high value property damage; with notable involvement in a multi-million pound class action.
He acts for a variety of large insurers, sharing a mutual relationship with a number of Kennedys’ key clients, and was instrumental in growing the reputation of Brodies’ insurance and risk practice throughout Scotland. He joined Brodies in 2008 from DLA Piper, becoming partner in 2011.
This latest appointment becomes Kennedys’ seventh lateral partner hire in the UK and Ireland since the start of the year and takes the total headcount in Kennedys’ Scotland offices to 15, including three partners.
Mr Demick said: “I am delighted to be joining Kennedys. There is a real synergy between the work I undertake and the work carried out by Kennedys. The firm has a committed insurance presence, not just in Scotland but across the UK and internationally, which will present a wealth of further opportunities for our clients.”
Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys, added: “The arrival of Peter boosts our Scottish presence, providing our clients with greater local expertise and significantly enhances our liability strength across the UK. His expertise, clients and contacts will help us to grow further in this strategically important insurance centre.”
