Lady Hale to speak at SYLA’s Women in Law seminar
Former President of the Supreme Court, Lady Hale, is to speak at this year’s Women in Law seminar, hosted by the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association (SYLA).
The annual event brings together a number of high profile and inspiring women from the legal community to share their personal experiences and achievements.
The event this year is focused around balancing a career, and personal life, alongside enduring the difficulties a global pandemic can present. A number of female lawyers can find it hard to balance these, and wish to thrive at both aspects.
This year’s event will be chaired by Lucy Thornton (solicitor at Anderson Strathern) and Laila Kennedy (trainee solicitor at Ledingham Chalmers and SYLA treasurer).
This year’s panel includes:
- Lady Hale of Richmond – past president of the UK Supreme Court 2017-2020
- Jane Edwarde – head of real estate and partner, Slaughter and May, and listed as a leading individual in the Real Estate section of Chambers UK, 2021
- Leigh Herd – property and infrastructure disputes associate, Shepherd and Wedderburn, and awarded Rising Star of the Year 2020 (Scottish Legal Awards)
There will be a panel Q&A - please submit any questions in advance to mail@syla.co.uk.
£5 from every ticket price will be donated directly to SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health). SAMH operates across all communities in Scotland to provide hands-on and practical mental health support and advice. This year we believe it is more important than ever to access and benefit from mental health support.
