Laura Meldrum re-elected SYLA president
Laura Meldrum, an employment solicitor at Anderson Strathern LLP, has been re-elected president of the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association as the committee for 2017-18 was selected last night.
The executive committee now comprises Laura Meldrum as president, Lucy Thornton (Anderson Strathern LLP) as vice president, Jessica Weir (Brodies LLP) as secretary, and Dominique McErlane (Brodies LLP) as treasurer. Emma Boffey of CMS remains on the committee as past president.
The following were elected as non-executive committee members: Zara Clark (DAC Beachcroft), Ayla Iridag (Clyde & Co), Jay Goodwillie (Dalling Solicitors), Ilaria Moretti (Anderson Strathern LLP) and Laila Kennedy (3rd year law student, University of Aberdeen).
Ms Meldrum said: “I’m delighted to have elected as president of the SYLA for a second term. In my first year as president of the Association we have seen Brexit, Donald Trump elected as President of the United States and the calling of a snap general election in the UK …what will the next year bring?”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing committee members –– Laura Wylie (BLM), Jonathan Tait (Ennova Law), Evonne Morrison (Inksters), Joanne Baker (DWF LLP), and Holly Archibald (Adam & Co) – for their input and enthusiasm over the course of the past year.”
