Law Society of Scotland launches new roadshow for trainee solicitors
All of the events are free and attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the panel about common questions and concerns for trainees, how to get more support from the profession and tips on wellbeing.
Heather McKendrick, head of careers and outreach at the Law Society, said: “We’re very excited to launch the trainee roadshow this year and I’m really looking forward to getting to know first-hand about the big issues that are facing trainee solicitors across Scotland.
“These events will give trainees a fantastic opportunity to get some great advice and build their networks, which can be really beneficial to their future careers as well as crucial to their general wellbeing.”
The new roadshow events follow the launch of Legal Wellbeing Scotland, a collaborative initiative to promote and support mental health and wellbeing in the Scottish legal community, earlier this year.
Trish McLellan, co-ordinator for LawCare in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “Law can be very demanding and we know that one in five solicitors will experience a mental health issue at least once in their career. Having a good network and knowing how and where to access support is really important. We’re delighted to contribute to these events and make sure more solicitors are aware of the help on offer early in their career.”
Current trainees can sign up to attend one of the events by emailing oliviaparker@lawscot.org.uk. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
