Law Society warns solicitors of suspected scam email

We’re aware of a suspected scam where someone claiming to be an “attorney” is writing to members of the public warning that court action would be taken if an outstanding debt is not paid.

The email reported to us was sent from “ldebtservice@gmail.com” with a subject line “Court Notice warning” and featured a version of the Law Society logo at the bottom.

Part of the email said:

“If you wish to prevent this, please contact the undersigned as a matter of urgency and settle your account before the above date. We hereby request you , please clear your payments. If the payments are not cleared within the specified period of 3 days then we reserve the right to proceed with legal proceedings as per the law in Court or Small Claim Court Or County Court Judgement as per the seriousness of the issue.”
