LawCare welcomes new chair to the board
LawCare has appointed a new chair, Bronwen Still (pictured), as outgoing chair Paul Venton retires.
Ms Still’s involvement with LawCare began in the 1980s when she became a volunteer while working at the Law Society of England and Wales following private practice. Ms Still has been a trustee of LawCare since 1997.
Ms Still, who took up her new role this week, had a 30-year career at the Law Society, then headed up the Solicitors Regulation Authority policy team that drafted the 2011 SRA Handbook. She now works as an independent regulatory consultant, and is chair of the Legal Professions Wellbeing Taskforce.
“It has taken 20 years to get the necessary financial support for LawCare on a secure footing, and also the recognition that there can be a very human cost to being a lawyer. I am glad I have been part of that evolution, and to see LawCare become the multi-jurisdictional success it is today,” says Ms Still.
“I am proud to chair the organisation, and to take it forward in its important work of supporting and promoting good mental health and wellbeing right across the legal profession.”
