Lawyers’ fundraiser goes swimmingly
A daring duo from Pagan Osborne are on the crest of a wave after smashing their fundraising target for Alzheimer Scotland.
Colleagues Jackie McRae and Gillian MacNulty swapped their comfortable offices, in Edinburgh and St Andrews respectively, for the chilly depths of Loch Lomond to swim a mile in open waters in aid of the charity.
Although the lawyers, also both keen runners and cyclists, had completed their first triathlon this year, the challenge – part of last weekend’s Great Scottish Swim – was a daunting prospect for each as neither had previously tackled such a distance in wild water.
Ms McRae, the head of the family law team, and Ms MacNulty, a senior solicitor in the private client team, had hoped to raise £250 but their enthusiasm and dedication encouraged well-wishers to dig deep and they will now be handing over £700 to Alzheimer Scotland, the charity currently being supported by a raft of Pagan Osborne initiatives.
“We knew we wanted a challenge and to push our boundaries – and it was certainly that,” said Ms McRae, “but it was a wonderful event, enormously satisfying to achieve, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who backed us and donated.
“We’re just delighted to be handing over such a generous sum to Alzheimer Scotland which does an amazing job through research and support for people with dementia.”
