Legal entrepreneurs breakfast club launched by lawyers’ network
HM Connect, a support and referral network for law firms in Scotland, is launching a new networking group to help unlock the entrepreneurial vision of the next generation of legal business leaders.
The Legal Entrepreneur’s Breakfast Club, which will hold its first event the offices of Harper Macleod in Glasgow on 7 May, will provide solicitors with a forum to discuss common business issues with colleagues from different legal practices who may be facing similar challenges.
Stephen Vallance, a member of the team at HM Connect who formerly ran his own law firm, said: “Many solicitors will be involved in networking groups, often as the ‘token’ solicitor hoping to develop business, however there are few if any places where they can meet to chat solely about the business of law.
“That’s despite the fact that many practices face similar issues about developing new, more efficient ways to find, retain and process work flows.
“The Legal Entrepreneur’s Breakfast Club will allow those with ideas to tap into the knowledge of others who have perhaps experienced similar challenges to themselves.
“Indeed while universities and legal firms provide excellent training, entrepreneurial ideas and business development are not always high on the agenda. Meeting the challenges of the current legal market requires thinking outside of the box yet who do you speak to about it?
“At the very least the Breakfast Club will help create relationships and provide a forum for discussing ideas and issues that affect our businesses generally.”
The group is free to attend and open to all, with the agenda very much driven by the needs and interests of those attending.
Numbers are limited so if either you or someone within your firm might benefit from a networking group for lawyers dealing with the business issues of lawyers simply email hello@hmconnect.co.uk to reserve a place.
