Letter: Colin McEachran QC’s notable legacy
Dear Editor
Over the years I was, both as solicitor and solicitor advocate, on the other side from Colin in many personal injury litigations.
Lest it be forgotten, he, and he alone, was responsible for Scottish courts taking into account jury awards when assessing damages for personal injury.
I recollect being in court when he made this seemingly outrageous submission for the first time. No one had suggested it before. Judges would never take up that idea, would they?
As we all know, they did and they do.
Pursuers of personal injury claims, particularly those seeking fatal awards, have a great deal to be grateful to Colin for.
