Letter: Good counsel
Dear Editor
I read your article on the sad passing away of Liz Wilson. Her name seemed familiar and, when I went to my bookshelf, there it was - her short book on Setting up a Law Practice - A Guide. My copy was covered on the front with the scribbles of my then toddlers.
Her book was first published in 1986 by Park Place Publishing in Dundee and it had enormous influence on my setting up my own law firm the same year.
I recently wrote to SLN about the virtues of working from home – and it was the simple effective advice in Liz Wilson’s book that influenced me and helped turn my dream into reality, even the simple action in Chapter 2 “Open a large loose-leaf file with the proposed firm name on the spine. In it file everything connected with your plans”.
It sounds strangely old-fashioned now in these times but it worked for me.
