Letter: Titans of the law
Dear Editor,
I read with sadness the article about Len Murray, a man I knew well through my father.
The observation about Len’s standing as the last link to death penalty cases brought to mind ‘the Father of the Bar’, Professor Herbert (Bert) A. Kerrigan KC.
Still practising in a long and extraordinarily varied career, including over half a century at the bar since calling in 1970, HAK conducted the successful defence of a death penalty case in Angola in 1976 – with several less fortunate co-accused meeting their maker much sooner than they had hoped.
