Lindsays has promoted Caroline Loudon, head of the firm’s licensing and gambling team, to partner.

Ms Loudon joined the firm seven years ago and has been head of the licensing and gambling team since 2009.

She now leads a six-strong team of dedicated licensing and gambling law experts, based in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Alasdair Cummings, managing partner at Lindsays, commented on Caroline’s promotion, saying: “We are delighted that Caroline has joined the partnership.

“It is a reflection of her commitment since joining the team and her practical knowledge and specialist experience, both in representing her clients and in contributing as a leading commentator to discussions and policy decisions within the sector.”

Ms Loudon has been a specialist licensing and gambling solicitor since 2008 and has over 10 years’ experience acting for clients in licensing law.

She sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s licensing sub-committee, providing legal comment.

She is a member of the Institute of Licensing and frequently appears at licensing boards throughout Scotland and advises clients in relation to the full range of liquor, civic and gambling licensing matters.

Ms Loudon said: “I am pleased to become a partner with Lindsays and am looking forward to further developing our licensing law practice and continuing to provide first-class service to our clients. We are proud to be one of only a very small number of firms with a dedicated licensing team and our team are genuine specialists in this area. ”

Ms Loudon is recognised by the Chambers and Partners 2014 directory as a “leader in her field” and clients describe her as “always patient, helpful and extremely knowledgeable” and a “winner of unwinnable licences”.
