Looking at judgments through a feminist lens

Two Supreme Court judgments will be analysed with a feminist eye in a Faculty of Advocates-hosted event.
The Scottish Feminist Judgments Project looks at court decisions and whether the outcome might have been different if the judge had adopted a feminist perspective.
In a seminar by the Scottish Public Law Group, and chaired by Lady Carmichael, the cases to be considered are Salvesen v Riddell (legislative competence of Scottish Parliament) and Greater Glasgow Health Board v Doogan & Anor (midwives’ supervisory role in abortions).
Strathclyde University’s Professor Aileen McHarg will discuss the first case, and the second will be addressed by Dr Agomoni Ganguli-Mitra and Dr Emily Postan, of Edinburgh University.
